In 1984 I married the film director, writer and producer Fred Schepisi. Because we would be away for many months at a time, I decided I needed to paint wherever we were working. I was and still am inspired by the sights and textures around me.

In 2016 Fiona Mellor saw my work, bought it and became fascinated with it. Then in 2019 she visited my studio and started photographing my paintings – zooming in to create abstract designs. This has inspired us to start a homewares business – tea towels, placemats, napkins and cocktail napkins.

Then Covid-19 struck.  As the Melbourne based printer was only allowed to print fabric face masks we decided to launch our company Mary Schepisi Designs ( with face masks printed with my designs. We launched in October 2020.

Today, after only six months, we are making tea towels, napkins and cocktail napkins in seven new designs as well. We have also just released three cushions in 100% linen, Lilybelle, Kallie and Elodie and three cushions with new designs in velvet, Penelope, Violet and Firenze. They are stunning and mysterious, a wonderful finishing touch to any  sofa or bed. They come in three sizes.  Have a look.

We have also released a series of beautiful limited edition prints.

All our designs are available from our website:

as well as at:

Amelie and Franks in Red Hill

My prints and cushions are showcased in:

Polperro Winery Villas

I hope that you will enjoy and love our cushions and napery as we do.

Thank you

Mary Schepisi
